He has successfully mentored students of which one received the best paper award at The 14th Asia Pacific International Conference on Information Science and Technology (APIC-IST 2019). Dr. Woo is a noted scholar and has published articles on big data and data science. Recently, his faculty-student team research received recognition. The research team created an interactive data visualization dashboard that forecasts the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths by region in the U.S. and around the world.
